Residents in the Cayman Islands were coming to terms with the damage caused by Hurricane Beryl. Meanwhile, the military has been mobilized in Mexico to get tourists off Gulf coast beaches.

Hurricane Beryl rumbled towards the Cayman Islands and Mexico on Thursday, after pummeling Jamaica with winds and rain that caused floods and widespread power outages and leaving a deadly trail of destruction in several smaller Caribbean islands.

Beryl is expected to hit Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula on Friday morning as a Cat 1 hurricane, then make landfall near the Texas/Mexico border late Sunday or early Monday.
