Lower Merion said messages received by middle schoolers were "nearly identical" to those in other states, where some reported texts that said they had been selected to pick cotton on a plantation.

Dozens of Black people reported receiving similar messages that reference slavery in the wake of the presidential election.

Upper Darby School District is warning parents that a racist and derogatory text message has been sent to some of their high school students. The district alerted the Upper Darby Township police and provided the department with the text message.
