The media outlet voiced its concern after Canada blocked its social media handles and pages following the airing of a press conference featuring External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong.

A day after New Delhi said Ottawa had blocked an Australian news outlet for airing remarks of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, The Australia Today confirmed the ban “under orders from the Canadian government”.

The Australia Today, an Australian media outlet, was blocked by the Canadian government after airing an interview with India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. Jaishankar criticized Canada for making allegations against India without evidence and for providing a platform to anti-India elements.

MEA on Thursday hit out at the Justin Trudeau-led Canadian Government for banning Australia's prominent news outlet MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that the move highlighted the Trudeau Government's "hypocrisy" towards freedom of speech.
