The Israel Defense Forces continued its intense airstrike and ground campaigns in Gaza — particularly in the north of the strip — and in Lebanon, with Israeli attacks on targets

Israel’s foreign ministry said Monday the country formally notified the United Nations that it will not cooperate with the U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, once new Israeli legislation goes into effect early next year.

The United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Tor Wennesland called the Israeli airstrike in Beit Lahia in northern Gaza "another appalling incident" in a "deadly series of recent mass casualty incidents," in a statement released by the U.N. Secretary-General spokesperson's office Tuesday.

Israel officially notified the United Nations that it cancelled the agreement regulating its relations with UNRWA since 1967, the country's foreign ministry said on Monday, days after the Israeli parliament voted to ban the UN relief agency for Palestinians.
