Waymo One, the driverless ride-hailing app, is now fully available to much of greater Los Angeles after the robotaxi service previously started offering rides in LA to a limited number of people on a waiting list.

While anyone in Los Angeles can book a trip with Waymo there are limitations such as it doesn't provide a ride to airports or trips on the highway.

In another escalation of the robotaxi wars, Waymo opened up its driverless ride-hailing platform across more of Los Angeles, and is now offering rides around the clock from Santa Monica Pier to Downtown LA.

Waymo on Tuesday opened its robotaxi service to anyone who wants a ride around Los Angeles, marking another milestone in the evolution of self-driving car technology since the company began as a secret project at Google 15 years ago.

Los Angeles will be the largest city where the robotaxi service will be made available. Los Angeles has 3.8 million people and the waitlist of Waymo already lodged 300,000 Angelenos, according to a blog post on Waymo on Tuesday.

Waymo currently operates a fleet of all-electric vehicles that have been customized to enable autonomous driving in these cities. The company is delivering over 150,000 paid rides every week to the public, it said in October.

Waymo was already operating citywide in Phoenix, Arizona and San Francisco, California.
