Stephen Peat, a former NHL enforcer who played parts of four seasons with the Washington Capitals, has died from injuries sustained after being struck by a car more than two weeks ago, the NHL Alumni Association announced Thursday.

The N.H.L. Alumni Association said that Peat had died of injuries from a “tragic accident” that occurred more than two weeks ago.

Without identifying Peat at the time of the Aug. 30 accident, Langley police said a 44-year-old pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries when he was struck while crossing a road at about 4:15 a.m.
