The new NATO Innovation Fund started as a way to combat flagging US interest. Now, its staff are scouring Europe to find the companies that could give the alliance the edge in the face of war.

For Gilles Mentré, former diplomat at the French Embassy in Moscow, who was interviewed on LCI, the position of the future US administration will weaken NATO and possibly fracture the European Union.

"It was a very, very legitimate discussion to be had," Admiral Rob Bauer, the outgoing chief of NATO's military committee, told Newsweek.
